PCSWCD Board of Supervisors Meeting ( 6:00p )
The Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District s Board of Supervisors will hold their monthly meeting at 6:00 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013 at the USDA Service Center located at 42 Engdahl Drive, Dover - Foxcroft. The public is encouraged to get involved in conservation efforts by participating in meetings, volunteering and/or serving on the district board. Any interested person may participate in meetings and also inquire about becoming an associate supervisor. The USDA is an equal opportunity provider and employer. Maine Highlands Classical Trio Performance ( 7:00p )

A rare opportunity to hear Mendelssohn s Piano Trio in d-minor, Op. 49, live in a local concert presents itself when Highlands Classical Trio, a local chamber music group, launches its spring tour in May. Also offered will be solos and duos by Handel, Gliere, and Ravel.

The rigorous 30-minute Piano Trio by Mendelssohn has been a major focus for pianist Margery Aumann and violinist Susan Ramsey both of Dover-Foxcroft and cellist Ruth Fogg of Dexter since October, as the trio prepares for performances this spring. The trio forms the centerpiece of a benefit concert to be held on Friday, May 17, at 7 p.m. at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church at 834 West Main Street.
A reception follows.
Admission is by donation to benefit the church s important fuel-assistance fund for needy families.

Highlands Classical will also make its debut in Bangor with this program at All Souls Church on Sun., June 23, at 4 p.m. Performances will also be given the Hibbard Nursing Home on April 26 at 2:00 PM, at Sunbury Village in Bangor May 4 at 4 p.m. and at Dirigo Pines in Orono May 21 at 7 p.m.

Valley Grange Community Night ( 6:00p - 8:00p )
Join us in a celebration of community and to honor this year's award winning Community citizens of the year: The Piscataquis Observer and WABI-TV5! Piscataquis Heritage Hot Air Balloon Festival
The Piscataquis Heritage Hot Air Balloon Festival has been a dream in the making for many years. The first annual Festival will be held from 31 May thru 2 June 2013 at the Charles A Chase Junior Memorial Field in Dover-Foxcroft. In addition to Hot Air Balloons, the Festival will host many local artisans and businesses, highlighting the charms and products of small town Maine, and Piscataquis County in particular.
