Partners for Peace, the domestic violence resource center serving Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties, invites applications for the following positions:
Direct Services Advocate
Candidates should enjoy working independently in a friendly, fast-paced setting, and have a strong commitment to ending domestic abuse.
The successful candidates will be able to work effectively with a diverse group of staff and a changing resident population and demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills. Prior experience working with people affected by abuse and with consensus decision-making is a plus. All staff participates in crisis intervention, advocacy, and community response work.
The Direct Services Advocate position is a full-time position with a starting pay of $15.69 an hour plus generous benefits.

Rural Outreach Advocate
The Rural Outreach Advocate is responsible for the coordination of community collaborations with a wide variety of partners to identify, assess and appropriately respond to victims of domestic abuse in the rural areas of Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties. This position is integral to building and maintaining relationships with community partners across rural areas of Maine in order to expand and enhance services for rural victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
Successful Candidates Will:
- Be able to work effectively with a diverse group of people in multiple communities
- Demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills
- Be able to travel for work related needs daily
- Enjoy working independently in a continuously changing environment
Partners for Peace will give preference to candidates with prior experience working with people affected by abuse.
This position is a full-time, hourly position with a starting pay of $15.69 plus generous benefits. Police Department Based Advocate
The Police Department Based Advocate works within the criminal justice system to facilitate collaboration and systems advocacy. This position also works in close partnership with the Bangor Police Department and Rape Response Services.
The successful candidate will:
- Demonstrate an understanding of law enforcement and the criminal justice system’s practices and roles in domestic violence cases
- Enjoy working independently in a friendly, fast-paced setting
- Have a strong commitment to ending domestic abuse
- Have the capacity to travel throughout the Greater Bangor Area
- Have three to five years relevant education and/or experience.
- Demonstrate a familiarity and comfort partnering with sexual assault advocacy services.
Prior experience working with people affected by abuse and with consensus decision-making is a plus. All staff participate in crisis intervention, advocacy, hotline staffing and community response work. Some nights and weekends are required.
The Police Department Based Advocate is a full-time, non-exempt position with a starting pay of $15.69 per hour plus generous benefits.
