Visitor Center Supervisor
Hours: Tuesday through Friday

8:30am – 1:30pm*
$12 per hour
*This position has potential for growth.

Purpose of position:

To provide support to the Executive Director with regard to office/administrative duties, festivals and events, and coverage for the visitor center when Director is away on appointments.

Requirements and expectations:

The appropriate candidate should be familiar with Piscataquis County and the towns and lakes within its borders, good communication skills, above-average computer literacy, and experience with social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram. Will be expected to work with MS Office programs including Word, Excel and Publisher. Lifting may be required, up to 20 pounds.

Responsibilities of the position:
Visitor Center Coverage (Tourism):
> The Chamber’s visitor center is often a tourist’s first stop when traveling through Piscataquis County. The VCS’s job will be to provide visitors with friendly and professional assistance, which may include information about the area or directions to member locations or recreational activities.
> The VCS will answer phone calls when the Director is not able.
> The VCS will maintain inventory of maps, brochures, guidebooks and resources from other counties, ordering more when needed.
> Often, tourists planning vacations to our area will call for packets to be prepared or mailed to them. The VCS will create information packets according to the specifics of each request.
> The VCS will be trained to give visitors or callers referrals to local member locations.
> The VCS maintain inventory of member brochures and business cards. Intern will call business owners to request additional resources when inventory runs low.

Marketing / Social Media:
> The VCS will be given access to the upcoming events calendar on our website, so that he/she may add events scheduled throughout the county which we are made aware of at the visitor center.
> When an event is added to the calendar, social media posts are created and scheduled to coincide with the calendar events.
> The VCS will be trained to assist in ad-creation and photo manipulation for social media.
> Once per week, an email is sent making members aware of events happening that weekend or the following week. 
> The Chamber’s FB page follows ALL members on social media. When a member posts something newsworthy or exciting, we respond or may share the post. The VCS will have access to Chamber’s social media sites and will be asked to monitor member posts to share news with director.

Office duties:
The VCS will assist the Director with light office work including:
> Mailing projects, filing, billing, creating new member files, visitor, relocation and tourist packets.
> Light cleaning of the visitor center, including dusting and vacuuming.
> Photocopies, sorting, etc.

Festival Support:
The summer months are packed with county-wide festivals and fairs. The chamber provides support by promoting these events to increase tourism to our area and improve our economy.

>  The VCS will provide support to the Director during festivals and events, including mapping/planning, creating mailers/vendor packets, using vendor databases, receiving and tracking vendor registration forms and payments, and support on festival days, if possible. Prep-work may include some light lifting when items are retrieved and removed from the storage facility.

  Should be Familiar with:
 -MS Word, Excel, Publisher
